- Young drivers are overrepresented in traffic crashes
- Young drivers are involved in 29 percent of traffic crashes.
- One person was killed or injured every 26 minutes in a traffic crash involving a young driver.
- A total of 253 people were killed and 18,588 were injured in traffic crashes involving a young driver (15-20) in 2006.
- Results of a 2007 survey among teens in the state revealed a 61.1 percent safety belt usage rate. The overall statewide safety belt usage rate is 75.2 percent.

Drivers under the age of 21 comprise 10% of the licensed drivers in the state, but were involved in nearly 30% of the traffic crashes.
